Children’s sailing and September flowers.

It was mid September, when we went to Helsinki for a short shopping visit to buy some clothes. I have found during years an excellent free parking place for my car only about one mile from the center of Helsinki. When walking from parking place towards to the center along the nice “Bay of Töölö”, we saw white sails. Soon we knew that were sailing contest of children.

The types of sailing boats were Optimism dinghies. Optimism dinghies are really small. I could say as small as “bathtubs”.

After admiring white sails, another nice thing we were admiring, were autumn flowers planted in parks by the City of Helsinki. We liked them very much because they gave joy and color to the bypassing citizen. It was a very enjoyable visit in Helsinki.

Era a mitad de caminos de septiembre, cuando fuimos a Helsinki para una corta visita de compras para obtener algunas ropas de fiesta. He encontrado durante años un excelente lugar de aparcamiento gratuito para mi coche sólo a una milla del centro de Helsinki. Al caminar del aparcamiento hacia el centro a lo largo de bella "Bahía de Töölö", vimos unas velas blancas. Ahora mismo sabíamos que estaba una regata de niños.

Tipos de veleros fueron botes de optimismo. Botes de optimismo son realmente pequeñas. Se podría decir que son tan pequeños como “bañeras”.

Después de admirar estas blancas velas, otra cosa que era bueno, admirábamos flores de otoño en los parques plantados por la ciudad de Helsinki. Nos le gustó mucho porque le dieron alegría y color a los ciudadanos de transsúntes. Era una visita muy amena en Helsinki en Septiembre.

C'était la mi-Septembre, quand nous sommes allés à Helsinki pour nous d'acheter quelques vêtements de fête. J'ai trouvé au cours des années un excellent endroit de parking gratuit pour ma voiture, seulement environ un mile du centre d'Helsinki. Lors de la marche de la place de stationnement vers le centre le long de la "Nice Baie des Töölö", nous avons vu quelques voiles blanches. Bientôt, nous savions quec’était un compétition de voile pour des enfants.

Les types de voiliers étaient Optimismes. L’Optimismes sont vraiment petites bateaux. Je pourrais dire que aussi petites que des “baignoires”.

Après avoir admiré aux voiles blanches,il y avait une autre belle chose que nous admirions aussi - fleurs d'automne était plantes dans les parcs de Helsinki. Nous les avons beaucoup aimées parce qu'elles ont donné la joie et la couleur pour le transeuntes. C’était un très joli visite de samedi á Helsinki.

Massey Ferguson gathering / Reunion de Massey Ferguson

I do not know if this kind of meetings are held in other countries, but in July I decided to visit this meeting on one sunny afternoon in nearby town in Hyvinkää. The place of meeting was on the big courtyard of local Railway Museum. I guess that this was good idea because kids had possibility to participate on a small ride of miniature train.

There were also some Zetors, Nuffields and Mc Cormic tractors. Anyway although tractors are for me quite unfamiliar, I liked this meeting.

No sé si existen reuniones de esta clase en otros países, pero en julio decidí visitar esta reunión por la tarde soleada aqui cerca en el pueblo de Hyvinkää. El lugar de reunión estuvo en el grande patio del Museo de Ferrocarril local. Adivino que esto fue una idea buena porque los “chamacos / chamacas” tuvieron la posibilidad para participar en el pequeño viaje de tren miniatura.

Había también algúnos tractores de Zetors, Nuffields y de Mc Cormic. De todos modos aunque los tractores sean para mí relativamente desconocidos, me qustó esta reunión.

Je ne sais pas si ce type de réunions existen dans les autres pays, mais en juillet j'ai décidé de visiter cette réunion au dèbut de l'après-midi ensoleillé dans la ville proche a Hyvinkää. Le lieu de réunion était sur la grande cour de Musée de Chemin de fer local. Je devine que ceci était la bonne idée parce que les gamins ont eu la possibilité pour participer sur un petit tour de train de miniature.

Il y avait aussi quelque tracteurs de Zetors, Nuffields et de Cormic de Mc. De toute façon bien que les tracteurs tout à fait sont inconnus pour moi, j'ai aimé cette réunion.

Plasticiens Volants

Plasticiens Volants “Flying plastic sea monsters” over the sky of Helsinki.

This was the first time when I visited annual Helsinki Festival. Festival lasts two weeks and one highlight is Night of the Arts. This year French group was presenting this year flying inflatable creatures. 40 000 people looked at this spectacular show and the total number of visitors in the Night of the Arts was 100 000.

Fue la primera vez cuando visité Festival anual de Helsinki. Los festivales duran dos semanas y el punto culminante es la Noche de las Artes. Un grupo francés presentaba este año Plásticos Volantes. 40 000 personas miraron esta show espectacular y el número total de visitantes en la Noche de las Artes fueron 100 000.

Ruins of castle of Raasepori.

This castle in ruins is located from Helsinki to the west only 98 kilometers / 61 miles. Raasepori castle is mentioned for the first time in 1378. It purpose was to guard commerce and seafaring in Gulf of Finland.

When Finland got new capital Helsinki in 1550, Raasepori lost its importance. From 1553 it was abandoned and little by little it came into ruins. During history it has been renovated few times and nowadays it is safe to explore its ruins.

In those historical days this castle was on an island, but crustal uplift has been so heavy that nowadays there is only small river to the castle.

Raasepori is worth for visit, if You appreciate castles in their nearly original conditions and love castles which are not crusted with gold.

Este castillo en ruinas está situado de Helsinki al oeste sólo a 98 kilómetros / 61 millas. El castillo de Raasepori es mencionado por la primera vez en 1378. Su propósito fue de proteger comercio y marinería en el Golfo de Finlandia.

Cuándo Finlandia fundió su nuevo capital Helsinki en 1550, Raasepori perdió su importancia. De este momento lo fue abandonado y poco a poco entró en ruinas. Durante la historia ha sido restaurado pocos veces y actualmente está seguro a explorar sus ruinas.

Raasepori vale su visita, si Usted aprecia castillos en sus condiciones casi originales y adora castillos cuales no están gratinados con oro.

This small simpatico aviation museum is situated few hundred kilometers to the North of Helsinki. In the hall there are many types of old fighters and old aircrafts.

Hommage to Brewster.

This is unique in the whole world – Brewster BW372.

This fighter, the export version: Brewster B-239, F2A-1 is Brewster BW372 which I am presenting to You. It is the only one Brewster which is nearly in its “original” shape. This Brewster belongs to The National Museum of Naval Aviation at Pensacola, Florida USA and is loaned to Finland in early 2008 when Finnish Air Force was celebrating its 90 years anniversary at March 6th, 2009.

Why in Finland? Well, that is long story, but some simple lines:

When WWII, Finland bought from the States 44 Brewsters. With these fighters the Finnish war pilots gained 447 air victories. Ration to victories was 32:1 and that is much in the whole world. According this statistics Brewster was exceptional good aircraft. This Brewster BW372 was shot down in June 25th, 1942. The pilot called Lauri Pekuri had to make an emergency landing in the lake Big Kolejärvi in Russia. In 1998 it was recovered from the lake badly damaged. After that it was transferred to Pensacola in August 18th, 2004 and the Finns promised to restore it to that condition when it was when lifted from the lake Big Kolejärvi. Now this unique fighter can be admired in Tikkakoski Finnish Aviation Museum (Keski-Suomen Ilmailumuseo) nearby city of Jyväskylä.

Brewster BW372 is returning to Pensacola in 2011.

In 11 March 2009 this nice small museum celebrated its 111 anniversary. It is easy to visit this museum From Helsinki by train. Distance from Railway station is about 1 kilometer / 0.6 miles.

Well, what to see in this railway museum?

Locomotives, wagons, cars on rail, forgery of blacksmith, waiting room, ticket sales office. Anyway, it is easier to check all this by viewing my photos.

En 11 el 2009 de marzo este pequeño museo atractivo celebró su 111 aniversario. Al visitar este museo es muy fácil de Helsinki utilizando un tren. La distancia desde la estación de ferrocarril es acerca de 1 kilómetro/0,6 millas al museo.

Bien, ¿qué a ver en este museo ferroviario?

Mitä museossa sitten näkee? Vanhoja vetureita, raideautoja, junavaunuja, joihin voi kurkistaa sisälle ikkunasta. Lisäksi monissa halleissa ja taloissa nähdään millaista oli ennen vanhaan toimistotilat, odotushuoneet ja jopa paja. Odotushuone miellytti kovasti.

Varkaus – town of my adolescence / Varkaus – el ciudadillo de mi juventud

Varkaus – town of my adolescence:

My father decided to move to the suburbs of Varkaus when I was nine years old. Varkaus is a small town with 24 000 inhabitants. It has developed by big factory. If no factory, we can say, no Varkaus. When I was young boy, I was working summer months on the factory complex of Ahlstrom (nowadays Stora Enso). When as schoolboy, first summer, I was building a second paper mill machine, then next summer I worked at plywood factory and next three summers on the local rail road.

On the rail road I was working as “break man” onboard one locomotive and also building new rails on the area of factory. Building new rails was hard job for a boy, because at that time we built everything by our own hands, no machines. The job of break man meant actually that, that I was changing railway points when we arranged wagons to organize them a long train so that they were ready to transport goods to harbours. The locomotive pushed wagons on some rails and I had to break them and to connect with other wagons without any help of locomotive. This job was also dangerous, because if I should have felt down from the brake, I should had to stumble on a rail and wagons should roll over me.

Information about Varkaus:

In Varkaus there is very peculiar water tower. This water tower is on the top of one big residential building. This is a landmark for the whole city. All the town is surrounded by water, just as by lakes and river with rapids and there is a very nice canal.

When I was in that age, when I started to interest about girls, Varkaus was famous about its open air dancing pavilion. This pavilion was nearby the river where was held some summers competitions of loggers. In those days Finns loved tangos which were very popular and I was dancing many times them in that pavilion. Around the terrain there were some paths, where young couples were walking hand in hand, kissing and hugging each others. This path was so called “amorous path”. I have good memories also from there. Hmm, why not!

When now showing my photos to You, first You see the water tower, then how Varkaus is looking like, factory complex, one house under big bridge and finally photos from this amorous path, which nowadays is called “Nature path”. The open air dancing pavilion is vanished nowadays. What a pity, but our world is changing. Anyway, in my country, there are still many dancing pavilions.

Varkaus – el ciudadillo de mi juventud:

Mi padre decidió entrar en los suburbios de Varkaus cuando tuve nueve años desde Helsinki. Varkaus es un pequeño ciudadillo con 24 000 habitantes. Ha desarrollado por la fábrica grande. Si ninguna fábrica, nosotros podriamos decir, ningún Varkaus. Cuándo yo fui jovenzuelo, yo trabajaba durante de meses de verano en la fábrica de Ahlstrom (actualmente Stora Enso). Cuándo fue como un colegial, primero verano, construía una segunda máquina de papelera, el verano proximo trabajé en la fábrica de contrachapado y durante próximos tres veranos en los ferrocarriles.

En los ferrocarriles trabajaba como "hombre de freno" en una locomotora y también construía nuevas rieles en el área de la fábrica. La construcción nuevas rieles fue un trabajo duro para un jovencito, porque en aquel momento construimos todo por nuestras propias manos sin ningunas máquinas. El trabajo de hombre de freno significó realmente eso, que cambiaba agujos cuando arreglamos vagones para organizarlos un tren largo para que ellos estuvieran listos para transportar artículos a puertos. La locomotora empujó vagones en algunas railes y tuve que romperlos y conectarlos con otros vagones sin cualquier ayuda de locomotora. Este trabajo fue también peligroso, porque si seria caerme abajo del freno sobre una rail, los vagones me debían enrollarme.

La información sobre Varkaus:

En Varkaus hay un depósito de agua muy raro, lo creo. Este depósito de agua está en la cima de un edificio residencial grande. Esto es un señal para el ciuadillo entero. Todo el ciudadillo es rodeado por agua, así como por lagos y un río con rápidos. También hay un muy bonito canal.

Cuándo estuve en esa edad, cuando comencé a interesar acerca de chicas, Varkaus fue famoso acerca de su pabellón del baile al aire libre. Este pabellón estuvo cerca el río dónde fue tenido algunas competiciones de leñadores en veranos. En esos días finlandeses adoraron tangos que fueron muy populares y bailaban muchas veces en estos tipos de pabellones. Alrededor del terreno había algunos senderos, donde parejas jóvenes andaban cogidos de la mano, besaban y se abrazaban el uno al otro. Este sendero tan fue llamado "sendero amoroso". Tengo mis memorias buenas también de allí. ¡Hmm, por qué no!

Cuándo ahora voy a Vos mostrar mis fotos, primero Usted ve el depósito de agua, entonces cómo Varkaus se parece generalmente visto del encima de depósito de agua, la fábrica, una casa bajo un puente grande y por último fotos de este sendero amoroso, que es llamado actualmente "la sendero naturaleza ". El pabellón del baile al aire libre es desaparecido actualmente. ¡Qué lástima!, pero nuestro mundo cambia. De todos modos, en mi país, hay todavía muchos pabellones de baile.

Amazing ice sculptures / Estupendas estatuas de hielo

Amazing ice sculptures.

My photos are from International ice sculpting competition at Korkeasaari, which is in fact Helsinki Zoo on big island in Helsinki. This zoo can be accessed easily by boat or on busses. In winter on busses of course. Official name for this happening is Art Meets Ice 2009. Because this ice sculptor’s competition was held in our zoo, then it was logical that the theme was animals.

Many ice artistes came far away from Finland, for example Siberia and Mongolia. Here I present 24 photos and it is divided so that half of photos are from those ice animals and the rest is how to sculpt them. I guess that many of us have no idea how to do this kind of art.

Estupendas estatuas de hielo.

Mis fotos son de una competición internacional de escultura de hielo en Korkeasaari. Korkeasaari es el Zoo de Helsinki y se halla en una isla grande en Helsinki. Este zoo uno puede entrar fácilmente por barco o en autocares. En invierno en autocares por supuesto. El nombre oficial de este evento se llama:” Arte Encuentra Hielo 2009”. Porque el lugar de competición de este escultura de hielo fue un lugar de hechos nuestro zoo, entonces fue lógico que el tema fue animales.

Muchos artistas de hielo vinieron muy lejos de Finlandia, por ejemplo de Siberia y de Mongolia. Aquí presento a Ustedes 24 fotos que son divididas así que la mitad de fotos son de ésos animales de hielo y el resto son de cómo esculpirlas. Adivino que muchos de nosotros no tenemos la menor idea para cómo hacer esta clase del arte, pues yo tampoco (jeje).

Skating in winter in Helsinki / Patinaje en invierno en Helsinki

Ice skating in winter in Helsinki.

Did You know that You can ice skate right in the centre of Helsinki during winter months? This skating ring is beside the Central Railway Station. You can rent skates and train Yourself. Also You can play ice hockey on nearby ice hockey field (300 metres). I took some photos about skating in Helsinki and many of my photos are from children, because they are so natural and so cute.

Sailing ship Suomen Joutsen or in English Finnish Swan has to me sentimental value. Why so? Okay I remember very good my late father’s stories which he told to me when I was young man. He told to me that in the thirties he was elected to the crew member of Suomen Joutsen. It was planned that it make big ocean passage around the South America via Panama Canal. But what happed? My father became seriously ill before that voyage and so he was left onshore.

It was very hard case for my farther and many years later he begun to build miniature model to the scale of 1:100. How long time it took, I do not know, but from my mind it was beautiful.

Always I was admiring this scale model and I thought how it would has been to sail on it. But when I was adult my home house was burned by thunderbolt. In this fire I lost all my souvenirs I had and of course the scale model of Suomen Joutsen was burned and photos I took from it. Now this ship is only in my mind. In 2006 I visited for the first time Suomen Joutsen in Turku where it is nowadays a museum ship.

Velero de Suomen Joutsen o en español Cisne finlandes tiene a mí un gran valor sentimental. ¿Por qué? Bueno, recuerdo muy bueno mi difunto padre y sus cuentos a mí cuando era joven. El dijo a mí que en los treinta él fue elegido a la tripulación de Suomen Joutsen. Se planeó hacer un viaje grande de océano alrededor de la Sudamérica vía Canal de Panamá. ¿Pero que pasó? Era el caso muy duro para padre y mi más lejano y muchos años posteriores él comenzó a construir una maqueta a la escala de 1:100 de Suomen Joutsen. Cuanto tiempo largo lo tomó, no sé, pero de mi mente el modelo de Suomen joutsen era hermoso.

Siempre admiraba este maqueta y pensé cómo habría sido de navegar en Suomen Joutsen a paises exóticos. Pero cuando era adulto en mi casa de hogar cayó un rayo. En este incendio perdí todos mis recuerdos cuales tuve y por supuesto la maqueta de Suomen Joutsen se quemó y las fotos que tomé de lo. Ahora este barco está sólo en mi mente. En 2006 visité la primera vez Suomen Joutsen en Turku donde está actualmente como un barco de museo.

Some info about Suomen Joutsen:

Made in France in dock of St.Nazaire 07.08.1902. Original name was Laënnec and it first served as French sailing boat. Later Germans bought it and they baptized it to Oldenburg. But when the Finnish State bought it was renamed to Suomen Joutsen (Finnish Swan).

Measures: Length 84.3 m, breadth 12,2 m, draft 6.3 m. Suomen Joutsen made many long-distance voyages and the most distant place was Valparaiso in Chile. Type of this sailing ship is frigate.

Hecho en Francia en astillero de San.Nazaire en 07.08.1902. El nombre original era Laënnec y sirvió primero el velero como francés. Más tarde Alemanes lo compraron y ellos lo bautizaron a Oldenburg. Pero cuando el Estado finlandés compró lo fue denominado a Suomen Joutsen (Cisne finlandés).

This paper airplane is Finnish tradition that is continuing from generation to generation. I got instructiones from my father in the fifties. When he got, I do not know.

Why there are ships in Finnish churches?

Many people who have visited churches in Finland have wondered why ships are hanging in Finnish churches. Why they are there? Those ships or church ships are called Votive ships. The word Votive is coming from Latin word “Votum” and it means: “promised gift, promise, wish”.

They have been donated by some congregants who have been saved from some distress at sea or thankfulness from some successful sea voyage. Originally they are memories to some person who has been drowned. People has gathered by the side of these ships to remember those who have been drowned and to pray for them.

Ships are old Christian symbols: Church is a ship, which leads us safely at world’s rough seas. As an example is used Noah's ark. These ships are hanging from ceiling and their prow is pointing direct to the shrine. Also they are extremely meticulous work of art from the original models.

Some of these ships are real master peaces. I was told that one can spend 2500 working hours to make these ships. Yes, I can understand it. If we change 2500 hours to 8 hours working days, then we have 312,5 working days and this does not include normal daily coffee and tobacco breaks or meetings with the boss. Well when we add all this, we can say that it takes more one year to make the ship. So all the ships in churches are worth of big sum of money, but also worth of hat off.

Muchas personas que han visitado iglesias en Finlandia se han preguntado por qué barcos estan colgados del techo en iglesias finlandesas. ¿Por qué ellos están allí? Bien cuando agregamos todo esto, nosotros podemos decir que tomamos acerca de un año o más para hacer un barco. Consecuentemente argüimos que todos los barcos en iglesias valen una suma grande de dinero, que hay que descubrirse.

Rock paintings of Astuvansalmi / Pinturas rupestres de Astuvansalmi

The Rock paintings of Astuvansalmi.

It was in the middle of September when I visited those rock paintings of Astuvansalmi in Ristiina. Actually one has to drive about 20 kilometres to the east from Ristiina to find them. From the parking place there is about three (3) kilometres walk to the paintings.

Path is passing through the woods surrounded by small lakes with small islands, up and down steep hills and rocks on both side of the path. On the path there are millions of tree roots and small rocks. Anyway it is easy to go to the rock paintings. From me it took one hour and fourteen minutes to visit it including stops for photographing.

On the way there is huge piece of rock (one photo) that has been relocated by glacial ice.

Age of those rock paintings varies 3800-2200 BC. So the oldest are nearly 6000 years old and that means that they are from stone age. Normally rock paintings are found in caves, but these are painted on rocks. How it is possible that they still are there to be seen? Well, the secret is cliff above them. It is bending and protecting those paintings during winter, ice and against rain.

When You are looking those paintings, You have be aware that they are no modern Graffities but painted many thousand years ago by local artists. Also they situated on the rock very high. That is above lake level up to eight (8) meters. This means that the level of water on nearby lake has been on much more higher level than it is now.

There are about 80 paintings and mainly they present humans, elks, fish, and boats etc. They are not easy to be seen, because they are original and not repainted. Estuvo en medio de septiembre cuando visité ésas pinturas rupestres de Astuvansalmi en Ristiina. Realmente uno tiene que conducir acerca de 20 kilómetros al este desde Ristiina para encontrarlas. Desde el estacionamiento hay acerca de tres (3) kilómetros andar a las pinturas.

El sendero pasa por el bosque rodeado por pequeños lagos con pequeñas isletas, arriba y abajo colinas. En el sendero hay millones de raízes de árboles y pequeñas piedras. De todos modos es fácil de caminarr a las pinturas rupestres. De mí tomé una hora y catorce minutos de visitarlas incluye las paradas para sacar fotos.

Hay por el camino un pedazo inmenso de piedra (una foto) que ha sido trasladada por hielo glacial.

La edad de ésas pinturas rupestres varían entre 3800-2200 AC. Así que la más vieja tiene casi de 6000 años y eso significa que ellos son de la edad de piedra. Normalmente pinturas rupestres son encontradas en cuevas, pero éstos son pintados en piedras. ¿Cómo es posible que ellas todavía estén allí para ser visto? Bien, el secreto es roca arquedado encima de ellas que protege esas pinturas durante invierno, hielo y contra la lluvia.

Cuándo Usted mira esas pinturas, Usted tiene está entendido que ellas no son Grafitis pero pinturas que hace miles años por artistas locales. También ellos se hallan en la piedra muy alto. Eso está encima del nivel de lago hasta ocho (8) metros. Esto significa que el nivel de agua en el lago cercano ha estado en el nivel mucho más alto que es hoy.

Seurasaari outdoor museum.

Seurasaari outdoor museum is situeted on a small island in the heart of Helsinki. It took nearly 10 years until I this summer visited Seurasaari. Seurasaari has easy access by bus number 24 direct from Helsinki. To access the island You have to walk across nice white wooden bridge. On both side of bridge there are swans and ducks “begging” some food to eat.

Very soon when entering the island, You see old wooden houses collected and re-erected around Finland. There are many houses, windmills, old church boats and one nice church to be seen and visited. This a place where one can enjoy rural, peaceful outdoor atmosphere and all this very near in the centre of Helsinki.

During midsummer is a big celebration of Midsummer Day. Then You can find many performances of old, vanished skills of handcrafts. Also, if You want to see huge bonfire, then it is just here to see it.

Also if You like nudist beach, then in Seurasaari there are two nudist beaches. One intended for men and one for women.

The area of Seurasaari is 46 hectares. That means it, that one can spend plenty of time there exploring old wooden houses or just to enjoy pure nature’s atmosphere.

One “peculiarity” is general in Seurasaari: tame red squirrels. If You remember this, so buy some peanuts with You that You can feed squirrels from Your hand. They are not biting You.

If You feel tired and need some nice cup coffee, then enjoy it in one courtyard coffee shop.

Seurasaari, el museo al aire libre se halla en una pequeña isleta en el corazón de Helsinki. Tomó casi 10 años hasta que yo este verano visitaba Seurasaari. Seurasaari tiene un acceso fácil por el autobús número 24 directo desde Helsinki. Para conseguir su visita le tiene que andar a través del puente de madera, blanco y bonita. It was early morning in July when one forestry machine appeared just behind the fence of our garden in nearby forest. This forest is owned by local alcoholic factory.

As You see, modern way to cut, to remove branches and so on, is made by machines which are computerized, all this in 30 seconds. Easy job to be done. This machine Ponsse is Finnish made and they sales them around the world. The size of this machine is small, but anyway it works fine. Nowadays it is usual to preserve some trees in forests and not to take all at same time.

Look how it is cutting trunks and chips are flying around when this machine is working. Now our nearby forest has a “new look” and during summer we will have more sunlight for our small garden.

Fue mañana temprana en julio cuando una máquina de la silvicultura pareció justo detrás de la valla de nuestro jardín en el bosque cercano. Este bosque está poseído por la fábrica alcoholica local.

Parola Tank Museum or in Finnish “Panssarimuseo” is situated about 110 kilometres from Helsinki, nearby city of Hameenlinna in Parola. First when You visit this museum You see plenty of Swastikas. Well, many Swastikas are Finnish Swastikas which are standing on one foot are Finnish and those Swastikas which are rotated 45 degrees are Nazi Swastikas.

This museum is honouring Finnish solder and those tanks we used in our war. Also there other tanks than those from Finland as from Russia, USA and Germany. Also there is a tank train to be seen. In addition to these there can be seen newer tanks as Leopard 2A4. Oldest on is Renault F.T. Modèle 1917 tank.

What I am admiring is a Finnish made armoured car from 1937. Wow, this car is really a safety car and it could easily gain 5 stars in collision tests. LOL. Look also how easily bazookas can penetrate tanks.

Bueno, muchas Esvásticas son las Esvásticas finlandesas y los que estan parado en un pie son finlandesas y esas Esvásticas que son giradas 45 grados son Nazi Esvásticas.

Este museo honora soldados finlandesas y esos tanques que utilizamos en nuestra guerra. También allí hay otros tanques, solo finlandeas, pero otros como, de Rusia, EEUU y de Alemánia. También hay un tren de tanque para ser visto. Además se puede admirar allí más nuevos tanques como Leopardo 2A4. El tanque más viejo es Renault F.T. Modèle 1917.

Lo qué admiro es un coche blindado del año 1937, hecho en Finlandia. Ah, este coche está realmente un coche de seguridad y podría reunir fácilmente recibir 5 estrellas en pruebas de choque. LOL. Mire también cómo fácilmente bazookas pueden penetrar los tanques.

Traditional carpet washing in Finland.

Did You ever know this? We are washing yet carpets here in Finland by ourselves. I think that this tradition has vanished from the rest of world, but I am not sure. Last five photos are quite near where I live. The place in supported by our municipality.

Rest of photos are from Helsinki. Many years ago me, my wife, my daughter and my granddaughter where washing carpets in Helsinki. This place is famous place for tourist busses to stop and to let tourists to photograph. One French tourist group was lucky, because they talked with my daughter who was graduated in French school / college in Helsinki and that is why she talks completely French. It took much longer time for this French group than normally to stay there. Many of this group wanted themselves try to wash carpets and they found that it was not so easy than they toughed.

Be noticed that also men wash carpets. Check how carpets are first made more dry by a dryer and then to hang on a special rack.

Sculptor Emil Wikström.

Emil Wikström lived in 1864 – 1942. These photos are from his home and atelier from Visavuori and from Helsinki. Nowadays his home is a museum. First six (6) photos are from his home. Best known (by tourists) monuments in Helsinki, are those statues in railway station, this is shown in photo number seven (7). In last two photos there is triangle from House of the Estates in Helsinki.

Visavuori is situated in Sääksmäki by Lake Vanaja. This is by car from Helsinki about one hour and twenty minutes to the North.

Emil Wikström vivió en 1864 – 1942. Estas fotos son de su hogar y del estudio de artista en Visavuori y de Helsinki. Actualmente su hogar es un museo. Primeros seis (6) fotos son de su hogar. Snow castle in Kemi 2006.

Every year in Kemi (quite in North) is built castle from snow. My photos from snow castle are from April 2006. So, if You sometimes come to visit it, You see a different snow castle than now. Also there are some rooms to stay overnight in this snow castle. Cold, no, not at all, be sure.

Some people come to get married here. Must be quite an experience.

Cada año en invierno en Kemi (casi norte) está construido un castillo de nieve. Mis fotos del castillo de nieve son de abril 2006. In 2007 I made with my wife small trip to a city called Oulu. Oulu is from Helsinki to the north about 600 kilometres / 372 miles. We spent two nights on camping site and he had also with us our bicycles.

City of Oulu was founded in 1605. Population is 131 585 habitants. Here are its coordinates: 65°01’ N, 25°28’ E. On Oulu’s market there was something happening and we enjoyed music and nice weather although Oulu is situated in quite in north.

En 2007 hice con mi mujer pequeño viaje a una ciudad llamó Oulu. Oulu es al norte de acerca de 600 kilómetros/372 millas. Pasamos dos noches en el camping y él tuvo también con nosotros nuestras bicicletas.

La ciudad de Oulu fue fundada en 1605. La población es 131 585 habitantes. Aquí están su coordina: 65°01' N, 25°28' E. En el mercado de Oulu había algo evento y disfrutamos de música y la clima era buen y calido aunque Oulu sea situado casi en al norte.
